Review: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, by Taylor Jenkins Reid

At one point in the book, Evelyn says that she’s an immoral person (for reasons unrelated to all the husbands) and I do think she’s right. It’s fascinating that she still manages to be a character I sympathize with (even before the biggest sympathy guns come out).

It’s fiction, but does still make you look twice at Hollywood and view celebrity relationships differently. There’s a lot of depth to all the characters and their clashes are very visceral and very real. The writing is sharp and fast and cuts straight to the point, like the characters do.

There are more and better reasons to recommend it too, but they would be spoilers. Things do twist and turn. And rather than mark this review as having spoilers, I’d like to say to folks who haven’t read this book: “you should read this”.
