Striking and fun, this story shows what great sci-fi can do in a small number of words. Ethical ambiguity and the meaning of humanity, laser weapons and serialized televison dramas, it packs in a lot. The protagonist has a great voice and you root for him right away.

I’m very glad there are more of these for me to read next.
