Review: Disrupting the Game: From the Bronx to the Top of Nintendo, by Reggie Fils-Aimé

Reggie’s great. This book is definitely more “how to be a good business executive” than I was expecting, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Narrated by the author, Reggie was a recognizable and genuine voice throughout.

His advice all sounds reasonable, and would be the principles of an organization I’d be happy to work for. The journey through his career is a varied one, and has a lot more steps before Nintendo than I knew about.

Hearing Reggie reminisce about times with Mr Iwata is touching. (Which did remind me that I need to read Mr Iwata’s book as well.) And discuss the times he convinced Mr Iwata and wider Nintendo to change path. I grew up in the time where Reggie ran Nintendo of America and even I could see the change in their strategy at that first E3 he stood on stage.

And the laser eyes memes are pretty fun as well.
