Review: System Collapse, by Martha Wells

Murderbot continues to impress! I hadn’t expected this next entry to pick up so immediately after the previous one. Previous entries have shifted setting drastically whereas this one is on the same planet, dealing with a subset of the same people. Though there are some new friendly humans mixed in with the old ones, which is fun.

The crux of Murderbot’s development in this one is clearly trauma about what he went through in the previous book. He handles it exactly as well as you’d expect (badly), but does still go on a great journey, and is very relatable, especially for a part-robot, part-human ex-killing machine.

As always, Kevin R Free does a fantastic job as narrator and voice of Murderbot. He delivers the sarcasm with aplomb.
