Review: Kinect Sports Rivals, by Rare
This review was originally a series of tweets, which is why it is structured as it is.
This review was a part of my “Back Catalog” series in 2020, where I went back and achievement hunted in games that I had previously started, but not completed.
Next up on #BackCatalog is Kinect Sports Rivals! Another game you might recognize if you follow me 😉
I didn’t realize how much of the specific menu and loading animations were embedded in my brain until I saw them again 🤣
I dug out my original Xbox One with Kinect to play this (I’m playing most games on the One X otherwise and don’t have the adapter).
I had 3/54 achievements in KSR and that could do with some improving!
I only actually played Jet Ski in retail last time, so I’ve been having great fun with all the sports now. I think my favorite is bowling
@TiarnyMN and I had great fun getting the multiplayer achievements on Saturday! And a few others along the way
I’m fortunate that my living room is a long room and I can clear most of it to make space to play. Although @TiarnyMN did realize that a certain part of the goal in soccer was behind my couch, so I couldn’t block it!
I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t think I’d take KSR this far
KSR has taken my statistics by storm
Top games by TA points, Arkham Knight keeps the lead only by having 2,000 Gamerscore to scale up by, against KSR’s 1,000
Top games by TA ratio, where Massive Chalice is still the champ (it was hard), but KSR is a strong contender!
Top achievements by TA ratio (all games)
Yes, that’s 9 of the top 20 of all achievements I have in all games are from Kinect Sports Rivals, including the top slot! Massive Chalice’s “Iron Mode” achievement has at last been dethroned by one of the final KSR achievements!
